Mr. Sellers has over 25 years of strategic business and policy experience in the renewable energy field. From August 1999 to July, 2005, Mr. Sellers was the Head of New and Renewable Energy Unit of the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, France. He created and directed a team of staff to implement the IEA’s renewable energy strategy, responsible for technology, policy, market, and industry analyses of the various forms of renewable energy. His responsibilities also included coordinating the IEA’s €125 million/annum renewable energy technology development programs. In his function, he headed up several renewable energy market acceleration programs, including acting as the Secretariat for the G8 Renewable Energy Task Force in 2001 as well as overseeing the production of the seminal publication “Renewable Energy Markets and Policies” for the period of 1970 – 2003. Mr. Sellers also launched the IEA Secretariat’s programs on biofuels and hydrogen. He directed the watershed conference “Biofuels for Transport: An International Perspective” as well as the initial working meetings of the IEA Hydrogen Co-ordination Group. From 2005 to 2006 Mr. Sellers was a Senior Advisor on sustainable technologies to the government of Abu Dhabi in setting up the Al Masdar initiative, a multi-billion dollar program to diversify the Abu Dhabi economy. Currently, as President of Arxiel Ventures, Mr. Sellers develops and establishes renewable energy businesses and projects.
